Buy a Shimano Baitrunner Reel

Shimano rule the carp fishing reel world with their Baitrunner reel. The Shimano Baitrunner is the best on the market; they have been producing gearing products for years, most notably bicycle gears. The Baitrunner I own has seen several years of service and has been under water, had ground bait all over it, been covered fish slime and has barely been cleaned and it still work perfectly.

All the Baitrunner models are excellent and you can certainly depend on them, they are good for freshwater fishing such as fishing for Carp, and are also good for sea water fishing. The Baitrunner series also come in a range that also includes some very affordable model s. These reels are also excellent for use from the shore and for fishing from a boat.

The Baitrunners have spool thumbing, this makes it easy to place your lure exactly into the position you want. The Baitrunner really is a dream for the Carp angler.

I once spent a day landing double figure Carp catches on it. The clutch on the Baitrunner is absolutely the smoothest have ever used. Once I saw a carp roll at around 100yds, with my Baitrunner the rig and bait flew out to the fish, 5 minutes later I landed the carp. I could never have caught it with my old tackle.

Anyway I won’t go on now, get yourself a Shimano Baitrunner reel, you simply must add one of these to your Carp fishing tackle.

Pier Fishing Reel Guide?

I was woundering weather i can use my zebco carp cool viper 150 reel as a reel to go pier fishing?
Obiviously i would be changing the main line to a stronger heavy line just want to know if it was possible.
I currently have it filled with a 10lb main line for carping as im woundering if it would hole 20lb aswell?

that should be fine not a problem using the same line although a little tip rinse the line and reel then oil your reel when you finish as the salt water does do a bit of damage over time on your equipment.

if you look at your reel it will tell you how much line of what breaking strain it can take.
I have a couple of spools for my reel, one for flat fish 7lb mono, one with 15lb mono and one with 40lb braid, so depends on what I am targeting which one I use.

Carp fishing on the river stort

This fish was caught 3 day into the season.

It only took one session for me to catch this stunning wild common

I had two rods out one was using pieces of fake corn and a piece of reel corn and the other was on muscle… I prebaited a swim and then baited it again that morning with tuna chunks hemp seed and other particals

Carp fishing on the river stort is very hard, well it is if you fish the Harlow stretch

What is a Good Big Pit Reel for around £50?

I am have seen Daiwa Emcast and various Shimano and Okuma reels, but I struggle to find any reviews about particular models. I just want to find out what others think and get a few idea’s on what ones to look closer at or to avoid. (The reels are for Carp Fishing in England and France)

How to put in new fishing line?

I’m gonna try fishing for carps, my question is how do I remove and store the line I have on the reel, and how do I replace it with the 25lb line that I want to use? On that note what’s the best bait to use for carps? Any tips you like to share?

PS: I just got my fishing license 2 days ago, so pardon my dumb questions.

all you need to do is thread the line through the eyes of the rod, flip the "bale" (the wire wire thing on the reel) and tie a uni knot on the spool,

http://www.in-fisherman.com/magazine/gui…

than get a spool of 14, to10 pound test Sufix Siege (when your reeling the line in, make sure the label of the spool is face up) it’s great line for beginners, it’s coronation and abrasion resistant and has very little amount of memory. after you tie the knot on spool, than you take a sock, or old rag and very very tightly pinch the line between you fingers with one hand and with the other reel in the line making sure you get the line on tight when it looks like the right amount reel about 5 more cranks, than you snip the line with some clippers and squeeze the line if it’s squishy than you need to take the line off to the knot and start over.

Worms work well, but it also GREATLY depends on the kind of carp we’re talking about, but for commons, corn works well along with dough. A good, less expensive dough is a dog food dough, replace the flour with finely ground up dog food, add water, make sure it’s a consistency that will stay on the hook. A simple way to find out is to get a hook and put the dough on the hook, place the hook with the dough in a five gallon bucket, wight for about half an hour, when you look at the hook the dough should still be on, if it is not, than you need make it thicker. but the problem is is to getting the dough into a powdery consistency. Maggots, also play an important roll in carp fishing, all you needs a simple bobber, split shot, and a bobber, fish around reeds and Lilly pads foe best results. Corn flakes in soaked milk made into a round ball and put on a hook the a bobber and split shot also works very well, you can see if it stays on the hook following the the same proses and with the dog food dough.

What fishing rod/reel combo should i get my dad?

My dad loves the sport of fishing as much as i do, but his money is very low. He owns only 2 rods and reels, which he uses for carp, suckers and catfish. Both reel/rods are very old, one being the Zebco 33 combo, and the other a Johnson Century combo. I have talked with him about getting him a good rod/reel because, he has always been there for me … I don’t know why i didn’t get him another one years ago …

ok, here’s what he likes .

1.) Spincasters. He likes spinning reels, and dreadfully hates baitcasters, as a joke he said he would buy out every baitcasting company and burn all their reels! LMAO … He said he would want a spincaster, also I’m about 90% in on getting a spincasting outfit, and the other 10 on a spinning combo.

2.) He doesn’t like a long rod. 6′ is big enough, as he puts it. Easy to carry, and transport. If 6′6 is available it will be alright also.

3.) He fishes for carp, catfish and suckers as said.

4.) The combo should cost less than 45 bucks, and can be bought from Wal-Mart.

5.) And his favorite brands are Zebco, Johnson and Abu Garcia.

He swears by the old 33’s, and says that the new ones are not nearly as good … You think the Platinum series 33 would be any better than the Authentic one?

Thanks to all.

the platinum would be a great one. match it up with a nice ugly stick.
but l know you’re going to do that, anyway.

What type/size of a fishing rod/reel will i need to fish with on the Susquehanna River?

I want to know how big of a rod i will need, and how big of a line i will need to catch catfishfish, musky, carp, and smallmouth bass in the Susquehanna river. I’d like to keep it cheap, and i’d like to stick with Shakespeare Rods..

You can purchase a 7′ 2 piece Ugly Stick that will handle
8 to 20 pound test for about $30 and a Pflueger Trion
reel or a Pinnacle Extant reel (both are decent and cost
about $30). Spool up with 10 pound mono and you’re good to go. This is pretty much the "stock" outfit of the Susquehanna.

For Smallmouth Bass: Mepps Black Furys, Rebel Crayfish,
red and white flatfish, and Mr. Twisters in yellow, motoroil and black work great.

For Walleye: Marabou jigs in black, brown, yellow are big producers as are shiners or nightcrawlers fished on a floating jighead off the bottom near drop-off points and deep rocky bottom areas (you’ll also catch your share of Smallmouth
as well)

For Muskie: 8 to 10" yellow tube style baits work best attached to a yellow marabou jig in the late fall through the winter. Look for eddys and fish them hard. Also: big broken back Rapalas in black/silver take fish (make sure you get them deep) Big Mepps Muskie spinners in yellow work also.

Channel cats can be had by bottom fishing with nightcrawlers and chicken livers.
