catfish and carp fishing?
what should i look for when fishing for catfish in the lakes in minnesota…any sighns that there are catfish….also in rivers for sturgen and carp at taylor falls? ill be simply doing some catch and realease… and any good homemade baits i can make or buy… what sizes can i be expecting?
1.) What should i look for when fishing for catfish in the lakes in Minnesota?
Well, look for deep water, and cover. Catfish are bottom feeders, and known to stay in the "deep side of the pool". So, cast in the deep spots.
2.) Any signs that they are catfish?
I don’t know any signs to find out if they are catfish, sorry.
3.) Also in rivers in for sturgeons and carp?
Carp look for the shallows in winter for some reason, and I’ve never caught or seen a Sturgeon before. But, I’m sure it would take more than an old Zebco 33 to catch a Sturgeon, LOL!
4.) Any good homemade baits i can make or buy?
For carp and catfish, i usually just wad a lot of crap together!!! For catfish try some kind of blood flavor, or chicken and for carp, they like sweet stuff. You can buy already made carp and catfish baits at any bait-shop or tackle supplier.
5.) What sizes can i be expecting?
Of the fish?? Well, the sturgeons get humongous, over 100 lbs. if not mistaken, and the catfish and carp ain’t small. Carp don’t generally get bigger than 40 lbs. but, you never catch a small one. For catfish, it determines what species they are.
Hope i helped ya out.
Fishing Lake. I have a 2500sq metre lake with some nice carp in it.?
Can anyone advise what impact it would have if I put single sex trout into it? The lake is fed by 2 natural springs and is in the Loire Valley, France.
How would you determine the sex of the trout? I would put normal (both sex) trout in there if it is legal to do so.. Trout and carp can live together.
Carp fishing line?
Could anyone one recomend me what they think is the best line for carp fishing on a stillwater lake , I normally use 10lb line .Thanks
Thanks for the awnsers, can anyone tell me a make of line they recomend.
it depends on rod and reel combo use a sensitive rod, because you know that they can barely mouth the bait as far as line match it to rod strength, lighter is better.do not use cheap line….and the lighter you go the lighter your drag goes.8-12 pound line will suffice make sure its limp. Here a recipe to catch carp and catfish Wheaties hamburger and Limburger cheese do not use water to make dough ball use grease from hamburger and cheese to hold together(you can let hamburger set for a day or two or not)use slip sinker to let carp run with no resistance.when made right dough ball will stay on quite awhile caught several on same ball barely leave barb out of ball using tear shape doughball HAPPY FISHING TRILENE, BERKLY OR STREN
calling all carp fisherman!…?
My dad has spent the past 3 yrs preparing and maintaining a carp fishing lake in Normandy France. It has been fished a few times during this time and 30lb+ have been caught. My dad would now like to use it as a business and make money from groups of fisherman/ as a carp fishing holiday. Has anyone done a similar thing and does anyone have any suggestion on how to get the punters in?? We’ve set up a website and have leaflets etc but havent had many enquiries.. what would attract you to a lake in France… Or (lol so many questions in one!) do you know of anyone who would be interested in fishing our virgin lake?? its in beautiful surroundings and theres accomodation available. Thanks for any help!
Contact the concierges at Inns in the area, offer their guests a discount.
Advertise in local papers, the airline’s magazines, travel agencies, and sportsmens magazines.
A tournament is a great idea! Be sure to get all the coverage you can from any source you can. Also, be sure to have the results, along with photos of the big fishes distributed to all media outlets.
Offer clinics to teach children and adults how to fish.
Run a weekly carp recipe in any form of media who will allow it. Carp is the most consumed fish in the world.
Offer rental fishing poles. For those who didn’t travel prepared. (Even my motorcycle has rods and reels stationed on board in case I have a chance to fish. Doesn’t everyone?)
Have a contest and offer overnight accomodations, bait, poles and fishing lessons if neccessary to the winner.
Consider starting an online carp fishing magazine of your own.
Contact carp bait companies, and fishing equipment manufacturers to see if they would or could help out with a product tie-in.(French carp bait for carp with good taste)
Invite any of the guys with fishing shows to come and fish and stay the night. Nothing is more valuable to a new business as exposure.
Appeal directly to big businesses who may need a place for a business retreat, conference facility, or they may be able to use a stay at your place for a prize in an employee incentive program.
Get with one of your local kids’ programs like Autism Institute, or Special Olympics and have them bring out a bunch of kids to fish. Have some little prizes for each kid and make sure you have media coverage.
Seek help from as many carp related websites as possible in furthering your adverts and exposure.
Challenge a group of fishermen from the US or elsewhere to a ‘fish-off’. For example; 50 fishermen will fish there and 50 will fish a chosen body of water here for the same amount of time. Who wins is irrelevent, whats important is that you have plenty of media coverage. I live very near the Erie Canal in New York, worthy carp waters by anyone’s standards, I’m sure I could find 25- 50 people who’d like to take part in an ‘international incident.’
To specifically answer the rest of your questions:
French women, food, French women, and good fishing all attract me to France. Oh yea, I like French women, too.
French women are beautiful, fiesty, passionate, and I can’t understand them when they tell me to leave them alone.
I know lots of guys who’d love to fish your lake, but traveling that far for a fish I can catch here for free is cost prohibitive.
You may want to accentuate the part about beautiful surroundings and comfortable accomodations.
I wish you the best of luck in this new business and hope to fish your lake one day!

Carp Fishing in Spain?
Just started Carp fishing in Spain, and have caught the bug :s.
I would just like some advice, I am fishing on a rather small lake with carp weighing up to 10 pound. I have tried meat and sweetcorn whith the meat faring more catches. I have noticed people around the lake using the same bait but pulling more fish out in all different spots. How do they attract so many fish at all times of day, in any spot they are in. I am even using ground bait aswell. Is the fishing different in spain from uk i.e technices.
Thankyou
mix big red soda and corn flakes to a dough, it’s great on carp !!

Where should i cast/fish for carp in a lakes water outlet/spillway?
it has cement walls…it fairly big…there are side pockets on both sides because the cement walls come out about 10 ft.
Here in Louisiana, the carp sit right up against the spillway walls. Easy way to get then is try and hit the wall so that it falls straight down against the wall. Then they are on the bottom right there.
