is it ok to use bite alarms when using swim feeders for carp fishing?
just wondering if this is ok ‘cos i saw a video where the guy using the swim feeder said that you should rest your rod parallel to the bank using a bank rest!!
if you decide to use a swim feeder and bait alarm you need to point the rod straight out into the pond with the tip slightly above the surface, you only have the rod Parallel to the bank when using the tip only as a bite indicator.
If you want to, go for it! For me, I’m not too "high-tech" with my carpin’ equipment. I just prop mine up and I’m ready to fish. I do have some reels that have built in Bite Alert systems which i think will work great for my catfishin’ and carpin’. But, i have never used Swim Feeders. Actually, this second i just read about what they were! Looks like a good little bait gizmo. But, when I’m fishing a dough ball or corn i just rest the rod on the bank side.
Hope i helped ya out.
