Heck no, whoever teld you that changing the guides is the thing to do is crazy. The rod was made with specific standards and can with stand those parameters under it's guide line for best performance. To make it short, you can see those guide lines near the top part of the butt section of the rod. It's wriiten, stamped, or stickered onto just about every rod ever made! The ability to cast farther comes from practice, the ability of your reel, Your abilty to use the reel correctly, weight used and correct line used. Correct casting ( there are several styles for distance...watch Youtube) for distance will also help you get that extra yardage. There's no need to change out the guides, you might as well have bought a rod with the guides you wanted in the first place and I bet you still would have asked this question here.
Practice, build up those casting muscles, learn some casting techniques, go by the rod's set guidlines and I can guarantee you will see an improvement in casting within a month. ~good luck catchin'.
References :
Using a 12' 6" custom ( I added 6 inches to a shoremaster custom) with a Daiwa spinning reel with 25 pound test Ande Mono. Any lighter line and I'll end up catching the Bahamas or hitting Fidel Castro up side the head with a 3 ounce weight and a mullet chunk. For some that's a good thing but we don't need no international drama. ; )

I think you'll have a hard time controlling an 11 ft rod...or at least finding enough room to cast it.

The length will give you greater distance. Not sure about the eyes. It depends on what you are currently using.

What I can offer that might help: New line casts farther than old line. A full spool will cast farther than one not so full. You can also buy "Reel Magic" that advertises to cast farther and make your line last longer in addition to protecting the reel from corrosion and doesn't scare away the fish.
References :
years of experience

if it's a spinning reel on a spinning rod, and if the first guide (nearest the reel) is undersized, then a larger size might help.

If it's a spinning reel on a casting rod, then yeah, you need bigger guides. Or rather, you need a spinning rod.

If it's a baitcasting reel, then rod guide sizes are *not* the limiting factor. To my knowlege. I'm prepared to be proven wrong.
References :
damn that's a long rod. what brand is it? i wouldn't even go through the process of changing eyes, i mean you can't gain too much more casting distance, can you? i mean with an 11ft rod you should be able to cast to the moon and then some. just don't do it. the eyes that you change to might not be able to work with the fire line proficiently. keep the original eyes.
