Would the new Johnson Century reel stand any chance with carp?

I was thinking about buying the Johnson Century reel(If they have it in stock at wal-mart or K-Mart. No other fishing retailer close to me. And don’t have a credit card for cabelas, basspro, etc.) I know my dad has one, which was bought in the 1970′s and it can haul in the fish. I think that spincaster could hold 35-40 lb. fish. I was wondering, do the new Johnson Century’s have enough power to reel in carp? Also, do they sale the model at Wal or K-mart? Here’s the link to the reel…
