Shimanos are always the best reels. If you’re looking to fish deadbaits or ledger for carp id recommend a baitrunner, infact id recommend shimano baitrunner no matter what, they are easily the best reels available

without doubt shimano produce the best bait-runner type reels, but you also pay for the name. ive found that okuma do a range of reels, with equal features of the baitrunners, but for a fraction of the price. the unconditional lifetime guarantee and superb after sales service make this reel make a sure winner. checkout them at http://www.tackleshop.co.uk/SearchResults/mcs/txtSearch//brand/Okuma/category/171/catname/Carp%20-%20Baitrunner%20-%20Big%20pit/

I have been using the same pair of shimano bait runners for the last 10 years and I find the really good. I have relatively small ones but they still hold plenty of 12lb line and they would hold thicker if you wanted.

SHIMANO’s all the way mate, either a big pit or a bait runner, depend on the distance your fishing at and your budget, if your fishing anything up to around 100 yards then a baitrunner, i recomend the XTEA 10000, i love mine they are so smooth and a real pleasure to play fish on, as for big pits, you can use them for anytype of carp fishing but are really designed for long distance casting, normally over 90 yards +, not unless youre a Tackle Tart and want them cos they look nice, anyways, the Shimano Biomaster are great, but i will say go for the XSAs and not the XTAs (XTAs have a baitrunner spool, XSAs Dont), as i found with mine when you go to adjust the front darg whilst playing fish you can sometimes engage the baitrunner whilst playing fish, not good, lol
Daiwa also make good big pits, not a fan of there baitrunners though – UGLY

    Hope this Helps
