Any Knowledge with Carp Fishing/Pay Lake Tournaments?

Hello! I own a catfish farm in South Georgia. I was wondering if anyone had experience with a carp fishing lake, or carp fishing tourney, with a "tagged fish" bonus prize?
I’ve heard rumors about other farms doing a weekly tournament for carp and would like to learn more about it!

Please help!

Yes what do you wanna know ? its fun and competitive I have won several hundred dollars fishing in North Carolina carp tournaments

here is a good bait

But it takes a few ingredients. Get some ground troutchow . A box of sugar pops (cereal) and they make a strawberry flavoring , mello fruit, butternut are also my favorites . Get the troutchow wet it with water and some flavoring . get it wet enough just to make a loose doughball. Put a sugar pop on your hook. Form a large doughball around your hook , Over the sugar pop with the troutchow. Cast out and let sit. The troutchow will dissolve in the water putting off scent and exposing the sugar pop . the carp cannot resist that and will suck up the sugar pop and run with it.

If you cannot find the strawberry flavoring it will work with out it. And catfish chow will take the place of trout chow also

Also you can use millet and Karo syurp and flavoring to make a dough ball

And cooked rice and flavoring also makes a good bait but be sure to make a tight enough ball around the sugar pop to cast it but loose enough to crumble away on the bottom exposing the sugar pop

here is a rough drawing( in the link below )of the rig I use for carp as well keep the leaders short off the 3 way only make them 4 or 5 inches

Use 2 rods heavy action rods and with good baitcasting reels and 20 pound line . And get good rod holders . The tagged fish tourneys are always fun and give you a chance at winning more money

EDIT: Ok I see now you need details about running one , Why not have Catfish tournaments? but anyway..

You need to have insurance and cover the legalities,

Next you will need some large carp of course ,

And you will need to have rules posted such as # of rods # of hooks etc . Also you will need to watch for people using brake fluid and wd 40 to try and win the tournament.

Usually you set up a fee to enter and have hourly prizes given away for the biggest fish on the hour , Then you have big fish of the night , even a small fish of the night , sometimes a dead even poundage fish get a bonus as well . And a special pot set up for the tagged fish that pot will grow until someone catches it. Say its 5 extra dollars to enter the tagged fish prize, that money is put in a pot day after day until its caught. ( the larger that pot grows the more people will come)

usually 80 percent of the money taken in is given back out in prize rewards . So you need to do the math on numbers of prizes given out etc. The more people come the more money you will make and they will win.

There was another question from a guy in Georgia a week or so ago he fishes in the Georgia tournaments you might go to this link and try getting a e mail to him asking him specifics about your area here is the link http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070418212430AA0EejL

Good Luck , If you have big Catfish they can make you some good money as well
