iv been fishing all this winter on small waters and the best thing iv found is use lunchen meat and a float rod under a tree works like a charm evry time im leavin the leadgers indoors untill it get sunny again had no luck on them again this winter few small ones but nothing special, float caught evry time within minutes all day long

really logic answer pal, lol thats the biggest pile of ive heard give the carp more to play with lol do you not think that you get spat 5 or so times for you get a run?? think about it riggy fish that try & back off your bait feel the resistance of a short rig straight away. it aint rocket science pal, ive done about with the taffs

apart from anti tangle & fishing on the choddy i think none. anglers condition fish to feeding & rigs and 90% of hooklinks these days are a coated braid of around 6inches or less. so this is where a long link is a advantage. do the opposite frm fred & his dog!!!!

To be honest pal i always fether the cast and would prefer to use a long hooklink in this situ. flat pear lead or not as you put it in shallow water its still going to get buried. I fish a silt mere @ the moment 4ft max depth even with a 2.0z lead feathered it still sticks in the silt WELL. Half the time the lead is dumped off the clip when retriving your rig etc. so imo a 6inch rig is no use or ornament unless you want the fish to sift through the silt to pick up your hook bait. NODDY!!!!!!!!!
