fresh water fishing…Carp and tench, what bait for which fish? and your top fishing tips?
real answers only please…pls keep it clean.
for carp, if you are in Europe ot the UK, I would find a bait store and purchase boilies. There are many flavors and consistancies for seasonal variations and the like.
www.carpanglersgroup.com will have tackle dealers as well as a very active and lively bait forum, for commercial recipies and home made.
Carping in the UK is a different deal, as the waters are heavily fish for carp and they become wary and habituated to certain baits.
In the US and Canada, although carping is becoming much more popular, due to the sheer volume of water the carp tend to recieve less pressure.
Corn (canned sweet corn) is a deadly bait almost anywhere, as are oatmeal balls and doughbaits. All these are inexpensive and ubiquitous.
As for tips, be open to experimentation!!!!!!
carp are big hungry fish. However, they can be quite fickle.
To start, I would fish a small lake or river known to hold carp. Take a few cans of sweet corn and throw the corn out into the water, bait the area.
I would use a simple sliding rig with a sz 2 -4hook. bait a few kernals of corn onto your hook and toss it out in the area of your chum. It can take up to an hour for the carp to be called in to the meal, or it could take ten minutes. Be sure to attend your rod at all times, as a carp can easily swim off with your rod. If you don’t have a bait feeder type reel, just turn the drag all the way to loosen it up. Tighten the drag as you fight the fish.
There are small poulations of tench in the US. Not many, but some on the east coast.
I hear maggots and grubs are great baits for them, but have never fished for them
good luck.

Tench like a variety of bait, but sweetcorn usually does the trick, as does Spam/lunceon meat. Carp, boilies.

I don’t know what tench is, but people here in IN fish for carp with corn or some clay like cornball mixture, they just toss out heavy baits, lead weights, and fish for them like catfish.
I hate carp and cats…nasty bottom scavengers full of mercury and PCB’s.
Bass for me! Catch and release and take a kid fishing.
