Catfish / carp fishing bait tips?

My friend and I are going fishing at a pond that has carp and catfish and I would like to know which bait to use. Normally we use nightcrawlers ,but I have heard that the bigger catfish won’t take them ? Other baits I have heard of are shrimp in vanilla extract and corn. The pond is not a natural pond but manmade and about 4 acres of water.

Having tried almost everything for channel cats the best results have always been cut bait for me. Some swear by frogs, but, those lines never produce as well in my experience.

trust me, try garlic and herb cheddar cheese in a brick. its stong in scent so the fish will find it and they cant resist it.

worms for both; sweet, whole kernel corn, commercial made carp bait; minnows, chunk of fish, , and again, commercial made stink bait for cats. i would stick with the worms- nightcrawlers are the best. this way, you cannot go wrong

Make you some dough balls or dough bait as we call it. Carp love it and Catfish do too. Get some flour and add water to get it doughy. Add a can of corn. Smash up some dry dog food and add it in. Then put in some big red soda and a little sugar or syrup to get it sticky. Roll into balls and put it on a treble and fish it off the bottom. Before your next outing, sour yourself some wheat. It’s easy, just add water to some wheat grains in a five gallon bucket and cover. It stinks but it’s excellent for the chumming the water before you fish your doughbait. Make sure you have stout line and a good rod. Catfish are pretty good fighters, but the carp is a very good swimmer. A carp will test your tackle, they’ll let you know if you need a stronger line, reel, and rod. Tight lines to you.
