what do i need to go carp fishing?

i have a shakespeare zenith carp 12 foot rod and a shimano 6000 ( i think, its a shimano but not too sure which one) baitrunner. what else would i need i.e pre tied rigs etc…also if you could post links to carp fishing sets of good makes like fox…thanks
12lb line btw

All you need is the bait.
White bread works wonders for me…or corn niblets.
While others use their own homemade concoction adding cinnamon, vanilla extract, even peanut butter to the bread.
But keep it simple and roll up a slice of white bread (without the crust)
make it into a dense ball about the size of a ping pong ball. Cast, and leave it alone. I like to point out that carps get spooked very easily, once they feel a hook they take off like a freight train, leave the bail open, if you don’t your pole will be in the water in a blink of an eye. Unless you want to hold onto a 12 rod.

does anybody know anything about these lakes & rivers?

hi i live in thornton (in blackpool) and i live about 5 minutes away from the river Wyre. i want to fish in it but i don’t know whats in it or what to fish with. if anybody knowes please tell me.
also, has anybody ever fished for pike in stanley park lake in blackpool?
if so tell me how you caught it and tell me how big it was.
if anyone has fished there tel me all the fish you’ve caught.
i don’t have fly fishing gear, but i do have carp, pike and coarse fishing gear.

thanks

I have fished a few times in England when i used to live their some years ago, however i can tell you that its worth a go fishing the river wyre, as there are trout and salmon in it, however i only fly fished it and it was a long time ago, so fishing with coarse gear may be somewhat different, so long as s you have permission to fish that stretch of water i cant see why you wouldn’t catch anything, if you can give fly fishing gear a go as that what i used and had a few small brown trout if i remember correctly, for flies go for dries and maybe a Czech nymph, if your using carp gear then a simple bobber(float) with maybe some maggots may get results, all i can say after this is talk to the locals as they should be able to give you some advice or look towards joining a club.

I am new to carp fishing..!!?

Im going fishing in a carp lake soon and need to know bait rig rod reel???nothing too expensive or complicated plzz thanks

Rod and Reel: You can get just about any rod/ reel combo. Find something 6-7 feet, medium action works just fine. I’ve even caught them as a kid on my old Zebco 202 reel. Now? Anything open face, 10 pound test works. Just once you hook them, let them run a bit, they’ll snap your line if you don’t. I just cast out and set my pole down, (VERY light/ loose on the drag). If you don’t they’ll drag your pole into the water. Seriously though, don’t worry about getting something inexpensive at all.

Bait:
Go and get some inexpensive SOFT white bread, (I find good old Wonder bread works best). When you go to fish, take the crust off the bread. Get the bread a little wet and squeeze it into a ball, put your hook in the middle and squeeze it together once again. I throw the crust into the water to attract them a little more. Every so often you’ll have to reel it in and squeeze out the excess moisture, etc. Also, if you whip the pole too much while casting you might lose it. (Don’t even need a treble hook, just put a few split shot sinkers about 2-2.5 feet up on the line).

Last tip of advice, bring some cooked corn kernels (regular can of corn works well), and throw them into the water around your bait. The smell really brings the carp in around the dough ball. I grew up carp fishing this way, and I’ve never gotten skunked (well, MAYBE once… but this has almost always produced spectacular results carp fishing). A lot of times you’ll even catch a catfish or two in there as well. Have fun!

Wanted to know what the best bait for carp fishing is?

i dont hardly tell people this but its time to share ive been havin 2 much luck. a secret doughball for carp is wheaties spinch and cotton ball. it works really well. what u have to do is tak eyour chopped popeye spinch and drain and then take a bunch of wheaties and start mixin it in with it and you will start gettin a dry doughball. cotton ball helps hold it together tight like rubber. if u wantin to fish for catfish with this doughball add vanilla spice. good luck i hope it works for u as it has me a many big fish.

Bait rod

Should i give up one kind of fishing and just focus on another type?

I just fish for TOO many species it seems like. Catfish, carp, panfish & bass are REGULARLY targeted by me & it’s taking a little from my wallet. I mean i love them all equally but i thought maybe i should slack down on one species and target one more frequently? I have to do something. I guess and can still go about with fishing for those but bass, catfish/carp & panfish all need seperate gear, and everytime i see a sale i buy it. Now if i just did bass fishing i would just have a little over a dozen reels/rods or so. I could sale some of my other fishing supplies and could earn profit.

Maybe I’m just going crazy or something but the wallet is telling me to do something.

Just see what you anglers out their think i should do.

The best part about fishing Cats & Panfish is you don’t really need expensive gear…….

One of the best Catfish rods are Ugly Stiks; they are cheap and do the job WELL. And other than some lead weight, corks, leader line & circle hooks you only really need your fav catfish bait.

And the best part of Bluegill/Crappie fishing is you can get a ultra-lite rod on the cheap. And other than micro-jigs, terminal tackle & corks you can catch a mess of tasty ‘Gil’s on the cheap.

On the other hand, Bass fishing (in my opinion) requires some "deniro".

Why?

Depending on where you live, most areas in the US see some "fishing pressure". It’s proven that over time Bass get acclimated/conditioned to seeing certain lures and won’t strike them anymore. That’s why those cool old lures, (like the Bass Oreno, Creek Chub, Paw Paw) don’t work well anymore in certain areas of the US.

(Obviously, if you live in a remote area that receives less fishing pressure, those older lures will be more productive.)

The fact is: People that have the most "cutting edge" lures, lines, rods, electronics have a distinct advantage over those that can’t afford "the good stuff". If Bass get conditioned to lures over time, you have to constantly "update" your tackle to stay ahead of "the game". This requires money.

If your gonna get serious about Bass fishing you HAVE to spend money…..

OR

……accept the catch ratio people that insist on using antiquated gear end up getting.

In my opinion, keep (or buy) your 1 Ugly Stik combo for Cat and Carp fishing……

Keep (or buy) your 1 inexpensive Ultra-lite rod combo for Panfish………

Spend your money and extra time on Bass……

EDIT: The point? Continue fishing for whatever species you want, but realize that Cats, Carp, Panfish require very little money to do correctly.

In other words, you don’t need 3 outfit’s per species of Cat, Carp, Panfish to have fun and be productive.

But, if your gonna be a dedicated Bass fisherman (that actually catches his limit every time he goes) you HAVE to spend money. In my opinion, Bass are one species of fish where you actually NEED a full tackle box and 3-5 outfit’s to pursue correctly, (for the reasons I stated above).

It’s just a matter of your level of dedication and how many "fish per hour" you want to catch.

Must you own the "finest", most expensive, tackle and gear for Bass fishing? No.

But to catch Bass consistently you need the basics: a rod dedicated to Crankin’, Wormin’ & Jiggin’ & Flippin’. That’s 3 rod/reel combo’s each with a different action.

To be successful, you need Topwater lures, Jigs, Soft
Plastic’s, Spinners, & Cranks/Stickbaits.

Does every lure in your T-box need to be a Lucky Craft? No.

But, you DO need to have some of each category to be prepared for whatever you encounter on the water.

Hope this helps clarify what I meant? And BOOYAH. (lol)

do you have to use a carp rod for carp fishing?

hi i have started to go carp fishing and was wondering if i need a new rod specially for carp rods i mean does it matter if i use some other coarse rods ???
would these be okay to use?
shakesphere ugly stick 10ft
shimano cantana bx spinning rod 9 ft
daiwa feeder rod 12ft

many thanks also what about reels can i just use any reel
sorry yer im going gor the big boys i.e 20Ibs plus

If its likely your catching 20lb+ fish you really need at least 2.5 test curve really. I use two 3lb test curve rods with my alarms and use a 2.5 tc to use with the float. I use 12 or 15lb main line on shimano 8000 reels with size 6-10 hooks and scale down to 6 or 8lb line with size 12-16 hooks. Its all about overall balance but with the bigger fish you’ll need to be prepared to step up your tackle. good luck.

What is the best bait to use when you are carp/ coarse fishing on a Commercial fishery?

Hi i am wondering what is the best bait to use that will catch you a lot of fish and will get you some big ones as well like pellets what kind of pellets are good that are about £2 or £3 and are good.
